Sabre.com - The Sabre® system was an American Airlines investment, first installed on two IBM 7090 computers in 1960 to combine a passenger name record with a seat inventory. Widening its scope to encompass other airlines and offer a growing portfolio of technology products, Sabre expanded into Canada in 1983, and Europe in 1985.
In 1996 it launched Travelocity.com into the online travel arena, and 1998 saw the establishment of a joint venture with ABACUS to serve the Asia/Pacific travel market. Headquartered in Southlake, Texas, the company has approximately 7,000 employees in 45 countries. In 2001 the company reported revenues of $2.1 billion.
